Sam’s Club Just Made a Food Court Move That Costco Still Won’t
Sam's Club members have been begging the membership-only retail chain to offer delivery on its signature Member's Mark pizzas for years, and the company finally delivered. The warehouse giant will now deliver its pizza to members' homes, something customers have been requesting for over a decade.
“Sam’s Club members asked for pizza delivery. We took a slice of that feedback and made it happen — fast. With Express delivery, hot, fresh pizza can now get to your door in as little as three hours,” the company said in a press release.
Fans of the Member’s Mark 16” Hot Baked Pizza have been raving about the food court item for years, but despite its popularity, there was one complaint shared by members across the country - there was no delivery option available.
After years of listening to the same feedback from paying customers, the warehouse giant announced that its fan-favorite $8.98 pizza would finally be available for delivery as of May 22, and they did not disappoint.
“We’ve sold hot pizzas in our cafes for a long time, and they’re large — you can get an entire large pizza for the cost of a slice down the street,” Sam's Club CFO Todd Sears said at the Evercore Consumer and Retail Conference on June 11. “We had this idea of, like, ‘Hey, we’re doing so much in delivery, why don’t we start delivering pizzas?”
Offered across 600 locations, the chain also allows shoppers to pair the pizza with a Member’s Mark Caesar Salad, a beverage, or a sweet treat from the Bakery. As long as you have a Sam's Club membership, you're good to go - simply open the app or website, choose your favorite pizza and schedule the delivery.
With Sam's Club launching its pizza delivery service, Costco members were hopeful that the retail competitor would do the same, to no avail. Despite members' repeated requests for delivery options on certain food court menu items over the years, the company has yet to follow suit.
According to the Sun, there's been speculation among members online that the retail chain has no intention of offering a pizza delivery service because sales are reportedly higher when shoppers come inside the store, so fans of the infamous Costco food court menu might be disappointed if they were hoping for delivery anytime soon.
