Prakash Shah was once a top officer at Reliance Industries and a close and trusted aide of Mukesh Ambani. He lived a life filled with success, respect, and luxury. As Vice President of Reliance’s Project Division, he was part of many big projects, including the Jamnagar Petcoke Gasification Project. As per various media reports, he earned around Rs. 75 crore every year.

But after many years in the corporate world, Prakash Shah made a surprising and bold choice. He decided to give up all his wealth and comforts to follow a spiritual path.

A strong educational and career foundation

Prakash Shah completed his graduation in Chemical Engineering and then went on to do his post-graduation from IIT Bombay. His strong technical skills and leadership abilities helped him grow quickly at Reliance Industries. He worked closely with Mukesh Ambani for several years and played a key role in the company’s success. His wife, Naina Shah, is also well-educated and holds a degree in Commerce.

A family rooted in values

Prakash Shah has two sons. One of them had already taken diksha (a spiritual vow of renunciation) earlier. His second son is married and has a child.

For a long time, Prakash had been planning to take diksha himself. However, his spiritual journey was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Finally, on the day of Mahavir Jayanti, Prakash Shah and his wife Naina Shah took diksha together. In Jainism and other spiritual traditions, diksha is a deep and serious vow which means letting go of all worldly attachments to follow the path of inner peace and freedom (moksha).

Today, Prakash Shah’s life is completely transformed. He walks barefoot, wears plain white clothes, and lives by begging for food. He has left behind every comfort and luxury, choosing instead a life focused fully on spiritual growth and simplicity.
