Copenhagen tops global liveability ranking as Helsinki places 13th
Copenhagen has been ranked the most liveable city in the world, according to the 2025 Global Liveability Index published by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). The Danish capital overtook long-time frontrunner Vienna, which dropped to a shared second place with Zurich.
The index, based on 30 indicators across five categories, stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure, assessed 173 cities worldwide. Copenhagen received an overall score of 98, earning perfect marks in stability, education, and infrastructure. Vienna scored 97.1.
