Beloved Restaurant Chain Finally Offers Delivery Nationwide
A popular restaurant chain just made a massive change to its delivery policy. Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen was previously known for not having an easy option for delivery, unlike competitors like Chili's. But now, the beloved comfort food restaurant is finally rolling out a delivery option.
The announcement was made in an email sent to the restaurant's nationwide email list. Cheddar's has about 185 locations, many of which are in Texas.
The email's subject line read, "BIG NEWS! We. Deliver." The body of the email read, "Now you can have all your homestyle favorites delivered, for the same great prices you get at the restaurant. Lunch, dinner, afternoon croissant craving… order at Cheddars.com." The email links to a new delivery webpage. The webpage notes that "availability and delivery times vary by location" and orders can only be made for immediate delivery. In addition, deliveries cannot be for more than $350.
Cheddars' homepage also advertises the new option, with the words "DELIVERY NOW AVAILABLE" displayed prominently on the website.
On March 20, Darden announced in a press release that it was testing an on-demand delivery option for Cheddar's that partnered with Uber. At the time, Cheddar's was piloting a test in 10 restaurants, letting guests order from the website or the app. The deliveries were being handled by Uber Direct, utilizing Uber's delivery network.
"Following the completion of a successful pilot, Cheddar's plans to deploy it more broadly across their system," the press release stated.
In the March press release, Chris Chang, Chief Information Officer at Darden, said, "We have developed a strong partnership with the Uber Direct team. We learned a lot from the initial pilot at Olive Garden, and that, combined with the success of the full rollout, gave us confidence to quickly move to piloting delivery at Cheddar's."
