The reason Bayern Munich were forced to drop their price was that the youngster certainly did not set the world alight during his loan spell at N17, being unable to establish himself as a regular in Ange Postecoglou’s starting eleven.
However, Thomas Frank has said that he is delighted to have Tel on board, with the Dane believing that he can improve the France Under-21 international.

The journalist revealed that Tel showed a great mentality behind the scenes and proved a good influence on the squad, impressing everyone with his work ethic.
He explained that the few glimpses of technical quality that the Tottenham decision-makers saw from Mathys Tel convinced them to bet on him.
Gold said on the Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham Podcast: “I’ve been speaking to people with a lot of knowledge about him, and there’s a feeling that he’s very strong technically and he has an excellent training mentality behind the scenes, a really positive character and influence on the squad as well.
“A lot of fitness work had to be done with him last season, strengthening for the Premier League as well. I think he could benefit from more strength, his finishing needs work, absolutely. But from what I understand, do you remember his performance vs Forest last season?
“That was held up internally as ‘that’s what we want him to be. That’s what they want to build on. He has Champions League experience, he’s played for one of the biggest clubs in the world, he won’t fear it in any way.”
Mathys Tel was keen on a return to Tottenham
It was reported by TEAMtalk earlier this week that Tel was also very keen on returning to Spurs, having enjoyed his time in London and expressing a desire to be part of the project at N17.
The outlet also claimed that Frank sees the young forward as a good fit for his dynamic system and values the youngster’s work rate and adaptability.
