Another shark sighting temporarily closes Rockway Beach
ROCKAWAY BEACH, Queens (PIX11) --- Another shark sighting temporarily closed Rockaway Beach on Monday afternoon, officials said.
NYPD drones captured the shark near Beach 120th Street just after 1 p.m., according to a spokesperson for the NYC Parks Department.
Beach 102nd to 120th streets were closed for swimming for an hour before reopening, officials said.
Rockaway beaches were once again temporarily closed after FDNY drones spotted a shark at Beach 102nd Street Sunday afternoon.
Two sharks were also spotted in the Queens waters on the Fourth of July, officials said.
Despite the several shark sightings in the past week at Rockaway Beach, the marine animals have not had any contact with swimmers, sources said.
