Psychologist Says Happy Couples Do These Five Things

If you're looking for ways to improve your relationship with your significant other, you may want to take one psychologist's advice.

According to an article written by psychologist Mark Travers for CNBC, he lists five things happy couples do on weekdays that all couples should consider taking part in.

The five things Travers lists are building a morning routine together, sending thoughtful check-ins throughout the day, taking time to "reset" alone, prioritizing daily "us time" and ending the day with a check-in.

When it comes to the morning routine, Travers suggests doing things like cuddling in bed, making the bed together and enjoying morning coffee with each other.

Some examples of effective check-ins are letting your significant other know you're thinking about them while apart, and at night couples are advised to address any issues that happened during the day.

Travers also advises couples to take time apart to "unwind alone" following a day of work. Examples of this include a solo workout or simply watching a television show while enjoying a snack. 

Travers says doing this will help "clear the mental clutter so you can show up more present and patient for your partner."

Along with some alone time, couples should find ways to spend time with one another, Travers says. He adds that avoiding distractions and focusing only on your partner during "us time" is the best way to go about it.
