Man accused of
house burglary

Authorities arrested a Sacramento man linked to a house burglary reported near Muir Woods.

The crime was reported around 6:45 p.m. Saturday on Camino Del Canyon.

Marin County sheriff’s Deputy Stephanie Ware said that two suspects entered a residence and stole a video camera and an antique music box. A neighbor saw the suspect drive away and wrote down the license plate number, Ware reported.

Investigators identified a suspect. On Tuesday, officers in the Sacramento County community of Elk Grove located the suspect and took him into custody. The stolen music box was found in his home, Ware said. A second suspect remains at large.

Tamir Habbas Nassar, 19, was arrested on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy. He was booked into Marin County Jail and his bail amount was set at $50,000.

Nassar was arraigned in court on the burglary charge Thursday. Judge Kelly Simmons declined to reduce the defendant’s bail amount, as per the defense’s request. His next hearing will be held Monday.

Nassar’s attorney, Will Morehead, declined to comment after the Thursday hearing.

Police probe
street assault

Police arrested a 16-year-old boy for allegedly joining nine juveniles in a gang-related street assault.

The attack was reported around 8 p.m. Sunday in a residential neighborhood at the corner of Fourth Street and Vallejo Avenue.

Masked juveniles confronted a 16-year-old boy and attempted to rob him while shouting gang-related threats, the police said. The suspects then fled without stealing property. Authorities said that the victim suffered minor injuries.

Detectives and a school resource officer later identified a suspect who is on probation with Marin County. Officers conducted a warrant search of his home Tuesday and found evidence of the attempted robbery, police said.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of robbery, participating in street gang activity, and violating his terms of probation.

The incident happened around 7 p.m. Tuesday near the corner of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard and Shoreline Highway.

Authorities received a report about a pedestrian who walked in the street and blocked traffic. Deputies contacted the suspect, who refused to leave the road, Deputy Stephanie Ware said. There are no nearby sidewalks or road shoulders, she said.

After the alleged assault, deputies took the suspect into custody. They determined she was intoxicated and learned there was a warrant for her arrest out of Sonoma County. The warrant charges were burglary and vehicle theft, according to jail records.
