Andy Byron's Astronomer Salary Revealed After Resignation
Last week, Astronomer, a private data infrastructure startup with a valuation that currently stands at $1.3 billion, announced that CEO Andy Byron was placed on leave following his actions at a Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium.
"Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy is currently serving as interim CEO given Andy Byron has been placed on leave," a statement from the company read. The decision came after Byron was spotted hugging a woman, later identified as Kristin Cabot.
Just a day later, on July 19, the company revealed Byron stepped down from his position after his alleged affair with Cabot became public.
"Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted. The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO," the $1 billion company said.
"As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding. Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met," Astronomer added.
Byron has yet to release a statement to the public, but details of his life have slowly trickled out. A new report revealed his estimated net worth and salary while working for the AI-centric company.
Byron is estimated to be worth between $50 and $70 million, was paid between $469,000 and $690,000 a year and also received handsome performance-based bonuses, according to a report from the New York Post.
Ry Walker, an original co-founder and the former CEO of Astronomer took to social media late last week to reveal why he stepped down from the role while offering his thoughts on Byron.
"I was CEO for Astronomer from 2015-2019, basically until we hit serious traction. At that point, I brought in an experienced CEO for the growth stage. That decision turned out very well for the company, and me personally — I don't regret it at all," Walker at the time before revealing his feelings about Byron.
"I’ve found Andy to be professional, I’ve only ever been on a call with him once. Everyone on the team has praised his leadership to me. So I think this is an unfortunate development that comes as a big surprise," Walker revealed.
Neither Byron nor Cabot have spoken publicly about the alleged affair.
