Deep cuts from Elton John’s catalog take the spotlight on the new album “Live From the Rainbow Theatre With Ray Cooper.” In his review, The Associated Press contributor Steven Wine says the album focuses on often overlooked material, which points to the astounding quantity of quality songs John produced early in his career. The set was culled from a residency in London in 1977 with John at the piano. His longtime percussionist, Cooper, joined him for the second half of the concert. The album will be available digitally and on CD for the first time beginning Friday, July 25.
