The CAG flagged corporate governance lapses in CPSEs, noting that 26 of 71 listed firms had improper board composition, 55 lacked independent directors, and 20 had no woman directors. The 2021–22 review also found CSR shortfalls in 14 firms. While CPSE losses dropped to ₹31,347 crore, they paid ₹1.11 lakh crore in dividends, with ₹54,381 crore going to the Centre.
