One of the main stars of the hit 1980s sitcom The Cosby Show has reportedly died tragically.
Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who played Theo Huxtable on the iconic television program, has died at 54, according to multiple reports. TMZ first broke the news of Warner's passing, with PEOPLE confirming.
Warner earned an Emmy nomination for his work on The Cosby Show in 1986. After playing Theo from 1984–1992, he starred as Malcolm McGee in the UPN sitcom Malcolm & Eddie, Kurdy Malloy in the series Jeremiah and Dr. Alex Reed on the show Reed Between The Lines.
Warner also had recurring roles on Major Crimes, Suits and The Resident, with his final television appearance coming in the program 9-1-1 in 2024.
Through the years, Warner remained best known for being Theo. telling PEOPLE in 2023 that no matter what horrifying legal issues Bill Cosby became known for more recently, he was still proud to have worked on such an impactful show.
"Regardless of how some people may feel about the show now, I'm still proud of the legacy and having been a part of such an iconic show that had such a profound impact on — first and foremost, Black culture — but also American culture," Warner said.
"I know I can speak for all the cast when I say The Cosby Show is something that we are all still very proud of," he added. "We share a unique experience that keeps us lovingly bonded no matter how much time goes between seeing or hearing from each other."
Last June, Warner launched the "Not All Hood" podcast alongside co-hosts Weusi Baraka and Candace Kelley, with the show's most recent episode dropping late last week.
According to reports, Warner is survived by a wife and daughter. We would like to extend our condolences to his friends and family.
