Pittsfield man charged for alleged armed bank robbery
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (NEWS10) -- The Pittsfield Police Department arrested a 38-year-old man on Monday who is accused of robbing the Berkshire Bank on West Street at knifepoint. Police said James Scales IV, of Pittsfield, is charged with armed robbery while masked.
Police were called to the bank around 9:03 a.m. for reports of an armed robbery. Law enforcement said an investigation alleges Scales went into the bank, passed the teller a note while brandishing a knife, and fled the scene with cash.
Police said additional charges may be filed, and no one was injured during the robbery. The Pittsfield Police Department said employees and witnesses provided pertinent information used in the investigation, all while remaining calm during the robbery.
