BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. (PIX11) — A Montville doctor has been accused of sexually assaulting a patient during a medical exam, according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
The Little Ferry Police Department contacted the prosecutor's office special victims unit for an alleged sexual assault that occurred on Friday at the Family Medical Group in Little Ferry.
Further investigation by police and the prosecutor's office led to the conclusion that 68-year-old Richard Tancer allegedly assaulted a female patient during an exam at the practice.
Tancer was later arrested and charged with two counts of criminal sexual contact. He was held in Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in court, BCPO said.
The investigation is ongoing.
