Android Users Sound Off on “Very Frustrating” Google Maps Change
With technology advancing by the day, being able to listen to and control your music apps while having the map navigation going is a beneficial feature.
Unfortunately, Android users recently noticed a big change in their Google Maps application. Suddenly, the option to control your music while using the maps has now disappeared, according to Chethan Rao of Android Police.
Alternatively, the feature is still functional and running for the iOS version of Google Maps, but not for Android users.
As such, users were not thrilled with the development and commented accordingly on Android Police's post.
"Means I have to open the maps app. And sometimes I have to restart the driving directions. Very frustrating," one person wrote.
"I have sincerely lost faith in Google's ability to ascertain the average user's usage of Google services," said another. "Why try fix something if it is not broken, just leave it alone and work on something better," wrote another.
"Not good news," said another. "If this is part of a deliberate strategy adjustment by Google, I hope they can provide an alternative solution," another stated.
Google was also under scrutiny previously for removing the Assistant Driving Mode as they aim to develop it with Gemini, although it hasn't been released yet.
Now, users are not thrilled with this playback issue, but it could be a bug, as Rao mentioned.
"The toggle continues to be available and functional in the iOS version of Google Maps (for now), so it's difficult to ascertain if this is part of a bug in the Android version of Maps or a planned removal by Google," Rao wrote.
