QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Stewart's Shops has sold six of its locations. Four of the locations were sold to Mirabito, while the other two were sold to Prestige Petroleum Corp.
Five of the shops needed to be sold due to Federal Trade Commission competition concerns after Stewart's acquired the Jolley Associates convenience store chain. Those shops were located at 1433 Route 9 and 474 Aviation Road in Queensbury, 443 Route 3 in Plattsburgh, 222 Lake Street in Rouses Point, and 4803 Main Street Manchester, Vt.
According to Robin Cooper, the Public Relations Manager for Stewart’s Shops, the store at 777 Upper Glen Street in Queensbury was also sold as it came up in conversations with Prestige Petroleum Corp., who also bought the 474 Aviation Road shop.
Mirabito bought the other four shops on Route 9 in Queensbury and in Plattsburgh, Rouses Point and Manchester. Stewart's still has several locations in Queensbury.
Cooper said the last of the deals were finalized last week and the buyers are working to convert the stores into their respective brands. The employees at these former Stewart's locations were offered positions at other shops in the company.
"We're happy that we found good operators and we're still doing business in those markets," said Cooper.
