Al Jazeera reported on Tuesday, July 29, that 62 people were killed in Israel’s latest strikes on Gaza, including 19 waiting in line for food aid.
A global hunger monitoring agency told the outlet that the “worst-case famine scenario” is now unfolding, with hunger spreading rapidly across the besieged territory.
The agency warned that Israel’s intensifying blockade has cut off vital supplies, worsening the humanitarian crisis and leaving millions of Gazans facing extreme shortages.
It noted that the situation has reached a “deadly and deeply alarming stage,” with urgent international action needed to prevent further mass suffering.
Data shows nearly 17 out of every 100 children under five in Gaza are suffering from severe malnutrition, reflecting the scale of the crisis.
These concerns follow Israel’s July 27 announcement that it would pause military operations for ten hours each day to allow new humanitarian aid routes into Gaza.
Aid agencies welcomed the pause but warned it is not enough, urging a full ceasefire and unrestricted aid access to avert a looming catastrophe.
