NJ homeowner kills tenant trying to break in with harpoon: prosecutors
LODI, N.J. (PIX11) --- A New Jersey homeowner shot and killed his tenant who was trying to break into the house by firing a harpoon at the front door late Sunday night, authorities said.
Amir Ali, 33, was shot after trying to force his way into the Garibaldi Avenue home in Lodi at around 11 p.m., according to the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Authorities found Ali unconscious at the scene and rushed him to the hospital, but he could not be saved, officials said.
Prosecutors said Ali lived in the basement apartment and first fired a harpoon and then tried to break a window to get into the home.
The 62-year-old homeowner confronted the victim before firing three shots, one of which killed Ali, authorities said.
The homeowner has not been charged. The investigation is ongoing.
