Journalist sets the record straight on Tottenham’s reported bid for Rodrygo
As reports from Spain indicate that Tottenham Hotspur are now pressing ahead with a move for Rodrygo, Ben Jacobs has now revealed what his sources are saying about Spurs’ move for the Real Madrid star.
It first emerged last week that Fabio Paratici had touched base with Rodrygo’s camp over a move to N17.
A few days ago, AS reported that Tottenham are keen to replace Heung-min Son with Rodrygo, and alleged that the South Korean’s departure had made room in the club’s wage bill to sign the Brazilian.
Marca then went a step further and suggested that Tottenham have already made an opening offer for the Real Madrid star, who is open to leaving the Santiago Bernabeu.
Ben Jacobs denies Tottenham’s offer for Rodrygo
However, in his latest appearance on the Last Word on Spurs podcast, Ben Jacobs has now denied that the Lilywhites have submitted a bid to Real Madrid for the 24-year-old..
While the journalist confirmed that the winger is on Tottenham Hotspur’s wishlist, he also rubbished claims that the Brazil international has put in a transfer request.
However, he did confirm that Madrid are open to selling the pacy wide-man, asserting that it would take an offer of £70m to price the player away from the Spanish capital.
Who are the other forwards on Tottenham’s radar?
While it is not clear if Spurs will push ahead with a move for Rodrygo, Thomas Frank has confirmed that Tottenham are still scouring the market for another forward.
It has been reported over recent days that Spurs are back in the race for Randal Kolo Muani, whose permanent switch to Juventus has now stalled.
Meanwhile, some sources are continuing to talk up the chances of Alejandro Garnacho ending up at Tottenham this summer.
