Trump Says Homeless Need to Move Out of DC IMMEDIATELY, but Criminals Don’t Have to Because ‘We’re Going to Put You in Jail Where You Belong’
President Donald Trump has announced that the homeless people need to move out of DC, but criminals can stay because “we’re going to put you in jail.”
The announcement, posted to Truth Social, comes one day after Trump vowed to make DC “one of the safest cities” in America.
Trump said that people who are homeless will be provided with places to stay, but “FAR from the Capital.”
The president wrote, “We’re having a News Conference tomorrow in the White House. I’m going to make our Capital safer and more beautiful than it ever was before. The Homeless have to move out, IMMEDIATELY. We will give you places to stay, but FAR from the Capital.”
“The Criminals, you don’t have to move out,” Trump continued. “We’re going to put you in jail where you belong. It’s all going to happen very fast, just like the Border. We went from millions pouring in, to ZERO in the last few months. This will be easier — Be prepared! There will be no ‘MR. NICE GUY.’ We want our Capital BACK. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Trump has already ordered federal law enforcement to patrol the nation’s capital throughout the next week.
Trump Vows That DC Will Soon Be One of America’s ‘Safest Cities’
On Saturday, the president announced that a press conference would be held on Monday regarding the issue.
Trump wrote:
"On Monday a Press Conference will be held at the White House which will, essentially, stop violent crime in Washington, D.C. It has become one of the most dangerous cities anywhere in the World. It will soon be one of the safest!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DJT"
The Hill reports:
The effort has been led by the U.S. Park Police and includes officers and agents from the FBI, Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), divisions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other agencies, according to the White House.
Friday marked the second day of the patrol and Trump added officers from the U.S. Secret Service and U.S. Marshals Service to the fray. Over 120 officers were assigned to high-traffic areas and will be highly visible and marked, a White House official said.
On the first night, according to the official, arrests were made for possession of stolen firearms and illegal drugs.
Trump has previously discussed a federal takeover of the city, which has long been plagued by violent crime, though it would require congressional approval.
In 2023, the District's homicide rate stood at 40.9 per 100,000 residents, ranking it fourth worst among major U.S. cities, and overall crime rates have been more than twice the national average in recent years.
The Hill report adds, "The latest threats of a takeover come after a former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) official, known as 'Big Balls,' was attacked in the city by a group of teenagers. Two 15-year-olds were arrested in connection to the incident and charged for the attempted carjacking."
“They are not afraid of Law Enforcement because they know nothing ever happens to them, but it’s going to happen now!” Trump posted about the incident earlier this week, along with a photo of the bloodied victim. “The Law in D.C. must be changed to prosecute these ‘minors’ as adults, and lock them up for a long time, starting at age 14.”
