Cracker Barrel Breaks Silence After Controversial Change
Earlier this week beloved restaurant chain Cracker Barrel took heat from those who weren't too pleased with the chain's decision to make a few aesthetic changes.
"The things you love about us will stay," Cracker Barrel chief marketing officer Sarah Moore told Fox Digital on Aug. 10. "The things that make us truly who we are — that's not changing...Items like our rocking chairs, our biscuits, our peg games, antiquities on the wall, none of that is going away."
What's Different About Cracker Barrel?
Moore did, however, admit a number of changers were coming to the restaurant. We're just looking at ways to freshen up the experience so that we can open our door a bit wider for more guests," she said.
The new appearance, which 40 locations have received as of May, according to The Wall Street Journal, has a fresh coat of white paint on the walls, modern light fixtures and antiques organized into shadow boxes.
A post from Cracker Barrel was inundated with outcry from fans who weren't happy with the changes.
Cracker Barrel Responds
After getting flak from fans, the beloved chain finally broke its silence regarding the change.
“We are very pleased with the trajectory of our remodeled stores. Feedback from both guests and team members has been overwhelmingly positive and enthusiastic about the refreshed dining and shopping experience. All of the elements of our remodels were informed by direct input from our guests and team members alike – these changes are for them," a spokesperson told People.
The spokesperson continued, “As with any change, we recognize that there may be a vocal minority who feel differently. However, the strong performance of these locations affirms that we are moving in the right direction. We hope people who haven’t yet visited a remodeled store will visit us and experience the country hospitality proudly on display at every table and in every dish.”
