Full list of Hobbycraft store closures – is your local branch shutting?

A popular arts and crafts retail chain has announced it will close nine more locations as the company continues to go through a restructuring process.

Hobbycraft has already shut more than 100 stores across the UK this year, and further closures are expected.

Exact closure dates for the shops have yet to be confirmed, but they begin in September.

It’s not all bad news, though. Some of the closing locations, including Wigan and Stafford, are offering stock for up to 20% off.

Hobbycraft’s CEO Alex Wilson said: ‘Closing stores is always a last resort and this has been an extremely difficult decision.

‘Making these changes is sadly a necessary action to enable us to keep our doors open to crafters up and down the country.’

What other stores are closing this month?

British high streets are facing even more shop closures this year, with dozens of shops set to shut in August.

Up to 17,000 shops are expected to close this year alone, according to the Centre for Retail Research.

Apple closed its two-floor store in Bristol city centre just days ago.

Monki, H&M’s funkier sister store, is closing its Glasgow location in August as well, writing: ‘Thanks for all the love and support. You can still shop Monki online – explore more at Weekday.com.’

Superdrug is also in retreat, shutting two more in Grantham, Lincolnshire, and Redruth, Cornwall, this month.

The Grantham branch has been part of the local community for four decades, with one disheartened local writing on Facebook: ‘This town is dying.’
