A severe thunderstorm watch was in effect through 7 p.m. for Cook County and the surrounding northern counties, the weather service said.
The severe weather also triggered a special marine warning for watercraft on Lake Michigan.
The storm systems are expected to leave the area Saturday night. On Sunday, the final day of the Chicago Air and Water Show, there's a 20% chance of rain, with a high of 82.
