Announcing the 16 Athletes Representing Cycling for Ontario at the 2025 Canada Summer Games

St. John’s, Newfoundland will be the host of the 2025 Canada Summer Games from August 8 – 25. The Canada Summer Games are the nation’s largest multi-sport games which are held quadrennially, with the last Games being held in the Niagara region (2022 due to COVID). There are approximately 40 sports taking place, with Team Ontario sending representatives to compete in 17 of them; including Mountain Bike and Road/Para-Road.

Ontario Cycling is proud to announce that the following athletes and coaches will have the honour of representing Team Ontario at the Canada Summer Games 2025 in St. John’s, Newfoundland:

Alexa Haviland (MTB)

Hometown: Whitby, ON

What are you most excited about attending the Canada Summer Games?

I am excited to meet new people and to represent Team Ontario for the races.

Do you have any specific goals you want to achieve at the Games?

I want to have good pre-race preparation for before the race.

Do you have anything you want to say to your supporters?

I want to tell all the people who helped me get to this point a big thank you for all the support they have given me over the years.

Clare Hauber (MTB)

Hometown: Whitby, ON

Profile

What are you most excited about attending the Canada Summer Games?

I am most excited to race in a larger field, including juniors and U23s. In addition, I’m excited to represent the province!
 

Do you have any specific goals you want to achieve at the Games?

I am hoping to be able to put up a good fight against some of the strongest girls in Canada.
 

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I have done a 23 day long canoe trip in the Kipawa region .
 

Do you have anything you want to say to your supporters?

Thank you to everyone that has supported me in making this trip and the competitions a possibility, including Shredders MTB Race Team and my coach Jeff Ain.
 
Elly Moore (Road & MTB)

Hometown: Collingwood, ON

What are you most excited about attending the Canada Summer Games?

I’m super excited to represent team Ontario and just take in the amazing opportunity to be at the games.
 

Do you have any specific goals you want to achieve at the Games?

I would love to podium in all the events, but I’m just there to have fun.
 

What is a fun fact about yourself?

When I was 11 I played rep basketball and played in the all-star basketball game.
 

Do you have anything you want to say to your supporters?

I just want to thank everyone that supports me like my parents, coach, team (cyclery racing) and sponsors like Cannondale (MTB).
 
Evan Moore (MTB)

Hometown: Collingwood, ON

What are you most excited about attending the Canada Summer Games?

Getting to explore St. Johns.
 

Do you have any specific goals you want to achieve at the Games?

Medal in the team relay.
 

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I work as a lifeguard for the town of Collingwood.

Thank you for supporting Team Ontario!
 
Farland Lamont (MTB)

Hometown: Midland, ON

What are you most excited about attending the Canada Summer Games?

To experience a multi-sport national event and to celebrate high performance in sport.
 

Do you have any specific goals you want to achieve at the Games?

I would like to get a podium medal

 

Do you have anything you want to say to your supporters?

A big thank you to all my supporters I wouldn’t be here without your interest in the cycling and continued encouragement.
 
William McFarlene (MTB)

It is a great opportunity to meet new people and race in a cool spot.

To see how I stack up against the best in Canada.
 

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I won the U17 National Championship.

Daniel Bigu (Para-Road)

Competing against the best in the country & showcasing adaptive sport!
 

Do you have any specific goals you want to achieve at the Games?

It would be a huge achievement to bring back a medal for the province.
 

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I’ve gone bungee jumping in the mountains of Whistler!
 

Do you have anything you want to say to your supporters?

I’m grateful for everyone opportunity I have to show how much I’ve been able to grow thanks to my support.

Competing, meeting other athletes and the overall experience.

A podium finish!

I am an author
 

Do you have anything you want to say to your supporters?

We all have the tools to create a life of purpose and fulfillment at our disposal, the strongest tool in that toolkit – community. Without each other, none of it matters.
 
Cadie Geertsema (Road)

Hometown: Chesterville, ON

What are you most excited about attending the Canada Summer Games?

Representing Ontario for road cycling and going to the opening ceremony.
 

Do you have any specific goals you want to achieve at the Games?

Give it absolutely everything I have for the time trial and hopefully podium.
 

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I just finished college for firefighting.
 
Haniya Jackson (Road)

Hometown: Aurora, ON

What are you most excited about attending the Canada Summer Games?

I’m excited to be in a competitive, multisport atmosphere and meet new people.
 

Do you have any specific goals you want to achieve at the Games?

My goal is to do everything I can to perform as well as possible and be competitive with the other athletes.
 

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I’m a multisport athlete.
 
Jaxson van den Bosch (Road)

Hometown: Burlington, ON

What are you most excited about attending the Canada Summer Games?

Meeting new people and competing amongst the best athletes in the country.
 

Do you have any specific goals you want to achieve at the Games?

I want to finish in the top 15.

 

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I’m a mountain biker and track cyclist and this is my first year road racing.

What are you most excited about attending the Canada Summer Games?

I am thrilled to represent Ontario at the National level! I can’t wait for the opening ceremonies and getting to meet all the other athletes.
 

Do you have any specific goals you want to achieve at the Games?

Team Ontario is here to represent and I hope our Road Cycling team can work hard together to take some wins!
 

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I really love animals particularly dogs and cats. I am always ready to stop and greet friendly pets!
 

Do you have anything you want to say to your supporters?

Thank you to my parents Erik and Lisa, my sister Hannah, my coach Peter Glassford. The Durham Shredders, Collingwood Collective and all the sponsors that helped me get here. I hope I can make you all proud!

What are you most excited about attending the Canada Summer Games?

I’m looking forward to the opportunity to represent Ontario at such an important race. Big races are always so exciting but at the Canada Games, I will have the opportunity to compete against athletes who I’ve never raced with before. I’m really excited to be a part of a Team Ontario that expands beyond my cycling teammates and includes Ontario athletes from all different sports.
 

Do you have any specific goals you want to achieve at the Games?

I would love for the team to come away from the Games with a gold medal! Personally, my goal is to race aggressively, finishing each race feeling satisfied with how I performed and knowing I gave it my all.
 

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I have 2 dogs – one of them is a “career changed” Dog Guide and the other is a rescue from New Brunswick.
 

Do you have anything you want to say to your supporters?

Thank you to everyone who has supported me since I started cycling, especially through the most challenging times. Specifically my parents, my coaches, and my teammates. You are all amazing!

Getting to know all the best athletes of Canada across many different sports! We are all there for a reason because of our hard work.

I definitely aim to podium at the Games.

I used to play almost every competitive sport before starting cycling only 4 years ago.

I want to win the road race.

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I can solve a Rubik’s Cube in under a minute.

Do you have anything you want to say to your supporters?

I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
