Report Suggests Hulk Hogan’s Death Could Involve Medical Malpractice

New information surfaces surrounding Hulk Hogan's death and possible malpractice.

In a report from TMZ Sports, the outlet spoke with Florida law enforcement with direct knowledge of details of Hogan's death that occurred in late July.

The report states that when officials arrived at the Hogans' Clearwater Beach home, an occupational therapist was present after the wrestler had stopped breathing. The therapist reportedly claims Hogan was a victim of malpractice.

She told the authorities that during a recent medical procedure, with details on what the surgery was for unclear, the surgeon in charge had "severed" Hogan's phrenic nerve. The nerve is responsible for stimulating the diaphragm, which helps control breathing.

TMZ also reports that a source claims Hogan didn't have the normal chest-clenching episode often associated with a heart attack before his death. Instead, Hogan has merely stopped breathing.

The interaction with the therapist and officers discussing what she had told them, TMZ reports was captured on body cam footage.

Hogan's daughter, Brooke, initially had her doubts and criticism about her father's death. Earlier in August, she confirmed in an Instagram story that her father had not been cremated and wanted an autopsy done that she would pay for.

"I'm glad to see that my dad has not been cremated and that Sky is waiting because of family questions." She continued, "With all of the speculation and uncertainty of my dad's death, I want to personally offer to pay for an autopsy if that's what it takes to get it done. My dad's dignity and legacy deserves it," she wrote.

The WWE superstar's cause of death was officially reported at the time due to an acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), with underlying health conditions including chronic lymphocytic leukemia and atrial fibrillation.

A recent update from TMZ reports Hogan's widow, Sky, has confirmed an autopsy has been done, but declined to comment on the results.
