Katy Perry's Love Life Update Just Threw Cold Water on Those Justin Trudeau Romance Rumors
Just as fans were lining up for Katy Perry’s rumored romance with Justin Trudeau, a new source is putting the brakes on any love chatter.
It seems that the 40-year-old pop star is putting herself first after ending her nine-year relationship with Orlando Bloom. People confirmed the news on Aug. 21 with an insider close to Perry noting, “Katy isn’t looking to date right now.” Instead, she’s prioritizing the things that matter most to her.
“She’s still in the middle of a tour; she’s a single mom and navigating some major personal changes,” the source added. Perry and Bloom’s daughter, Daisy, will be celebrating her fifth birthday on Aug. 26, so there are lots of happy times ahead.
The news of Perry embracing her single status isn’t surprising, though, as a Daily Mail insider shared on Aug. 19 that the very public status of her first date with Trudeau reportedly didn’t sit well with him.
“I know for a fact that Justin wasn’t thrilled about the pictures getting out,” the source shared. “It was a first date. A first date! And these pictures came out, and it became this huge thing, which is not what he seems to have wanted.” Perry “didn’t seem to care nearly as much,” which isn’t surprising since she is used to the paparazzi attention. It was a situation that “wasn’t ideal” for Trudeau.
Perry seems unbothered by her fleeting moment with Trudeau, though, because she still has multiple Lifetimes Tour dates left on her schedule — from South America to Europe. “She’s busy, he’s busy,” continued the source. “They have a lot going on, and the newness has worn off. But there’s nothing negative about it. They just aren’t in constant communication anymore. That could change, but for now, it is what it is. It has cooled off.”
The “Firework” singer and Boom only called off their engagement in early July, so there are probably some tender feelings lingering. Trudeau and his wife of almost two decades, Sophie Grégoire, split back in August 2023.
For now, Perry is going to enjoy her pop stardom and the sweetness of being a mom.
