Tottenham receive huge Dejan Kulusevski blow after latest injury update
There has now been an update on Dejan Kulusevski’s rehabilitation, and it comes as a bitter blow to Thomas Frank and Tottenham Hotspur.
James Maddison has already been ruled out for the majority of the upcoming season after suffering an ACL injury during Tottenham’s 1-1 draw against Newcastle in pre-season.
Kulusevski has been out of action since suffering a knee injury at the start of May, with the attacking midfielder missing the Europa League final as well as the entirety of pre-season under Thomas Frank.
It was initially reported that Kulusevski is expected to miss the first month of the Premier League season, but we are now hearing that the injury could be a lot worse than initially thought.
Dejan Kulusevski may not be back for Tottenham until 2026
Two weeks ago, Physio Scout claimed that Kulusevski’s injury could keep him out of action for a total of eight to 10 months.
They suggested that the 25-year-old may have suffered a patella fracture after his knee-to-knee collision with Marc Guehi, and those can take a long time to heal.
This news has now been backed up by The Guardian, who reveal that the former Juventus man is now expected to be sidelined until the turn of the year after undergoing surgery earlier this summer.
This comes as a huge blow to the Lilywhites, who currently lack a recognised creative midfielder in their squad.
Spurs hierarchy have failed to deliver Thomas Frank’s request
According to a report from The Times, Thomas Frank has asked Tottenham to sign two number tens this summer, not just one.
Now that we have heard about the severity of Kulusevski’s injury, one can understand why the Dane made that request.
However, Tottenham have failed woefully to deliver what the new Spurs head coach has asked for, and with not long to go before the window slams shut, Daniel Levy, Johan Lange, and co have their work cut out to bring some big-name signings through the door.
