All Caribbean Wrestling’s first Bajan Brawl a hit

All Caribbean Wrestling’s (ACW) first trip to Barbados, with its first Bajan Brawl held at the Sir Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre was a rousing success.

Mark Henry, Elijah Burke and the entire team prepared an epic show that did not feel like it was a regular house show on a tour to the island but a continuation of the show’s storylines that culminated with a main event that had all of the audience invested.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Trini Dan was the main antagonist of the night, and he prevented heel promos on Trinidad being better than Barbados, and how Barbados gets all of its culture from Trinidad lent itself to a night the crowd anticipating his ultimate defeat.   

From the opening segment with the classic contract signing to the final match which allowed Barbadian wrestler Brother Greatness, who was born in Barbados, a resident of Christ Church, a chance to wrestle in front of his home people. He showcased his experience of having 13 years in the business, mixing his athleticism with storytelling, and after 20-plus minutes of build, which included an interference from the other major antagonist for the night, Alex Arsenal, which almost led to Greatness losing, but at the end of it all, his hand was raised to send the fans home happy.

Throughout the night, the spectators were treated to athletic feats without the wrestlers falling into the modern pitfalls of overexertion to create a viral video. The wrestling was solid, and they had the right mixture of comedy and seriousness to keep your attention, and that lasted even after the night was over.

Former WWE, TNA, and NWA wrestler Elijah Burke, who wrestled a great match himself earlier, spoke to the crowd after the event was over and promised they would return.

“As the former longest reigning champion in the history of this company, I feel like I have a right to come out here and do what needs to be done, and that’s to thank every one of you for coming out”

“Do me a favour and give it up for our commissioner for tonight, Mr Reko (Reko Chase), and once again, make some noise for your hometown boy, Brother Greatness. And tonight, this wraps up tonight’s show, and I can guarantee you one thing. On behalf of myself, on behalf of all of the rest of this management, we will return!” (SW)
