'Disgraceful': Club icon 'struggles to feel happy for' Man United man, slams his mentality
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has ripped into Marcus Rashford in a scathing new interview.
The forward is spending the 2025–26 season on loan at Barcelona, which hold the option to make the move permanent next summer.
The 27-year-old departed Old Trafford after falling completely out of favour with United boss Ruben Amorim.
Paul Scholes berated Rashford on YouTube podcast The Good, The Bad & The Football.
He said: “I really struggle to feel happy for Marcus Rashford. Mainly because of his attitude. His attitude towards Man United towards the end was disgraceful.
“The amount of times I saw him walking because he wanted to leave… His whole demeanour about him was a disgrace.
“I think he quit on Man Utd. When you quit once, you’ll quit again. He was late last night [for Barcelona]. He wont get away with that for long at Barca. There’s absolutely no chance.
“He’s definitely got the talent to be [one of the best players in the world]. But he’ll never have the mentality.”
The England international scored his first Barcelona goal in the UEFA Champions League clash against Newcastle United last week.
He followed that up with a thunderous strike to double his tally, sparking hopes of a fresh start in Spain.
It looked like his career may finally be taking off with the Spanish giants, however, Barcelona manager head coach Hansi Flick dropped him from the XI that faced Getafe yesterday.
The German coach was left with no choice after Rashford turned up late to training on the morning of the game.
Discipline issues and off-field distractions have repeatedly derailed his career.
It is believed that Rashford has already played his last game for United and will join Barcelona permanently next summer.
He scored the first goal of Amorim’s tenure at United but was soon axed from the squad, as the manager was not impressed with his efforts in training.
Rashford is undoubtedly a superb talent, but he must find the drive to prove a point at his new club.
United will be hoping that the Catalan giants don’t terminate the loan deal, as Chelsea did in the Jadon Sancho saga this summer.
The tale of Rashford and United is already over.
It is a story that ended without ever living up to the promise that began when he burst onto the scene as a teenager under Louis van Gaal.
