One of the 'Best Superhero Movies of All Time' Is Hitting Disney+ Sooner Than You Think

The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the latest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is taking the next step. The movie will be available to watch on Disney+ in just a few weeks, much sooner than you might expect the superhero blockbuster, which only hit theaters this past July, to hit streaming. 

The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which Men's Journal called "one of the best superhero movies of all time" (you can read the back of the Blu-ray for proof), will be available to stream on Disney+ for all subscribers starting on November 5. Disney announced the news on Friday, October 24. 

Starring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn as the titular team of superheroes, TheFirst Steps was the first proper introduction of one of Marvel Comics' oldest and most beloved group of characters to the MCU. Rather than be an origin story, First Steps is set in a different continuity from the main MCU movies, and it followed the Fantastic Four in a retro-futuristic world as they work together the stop the planet-eating villain Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his herald, the Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). 

The Fantastic Four: First Steps hit theaters on July 25, 2025. It received mostly positive reviews from both fans and critics and was successful at the box office, as it's currently the 10th highest-grossing movie of the year. However, nearly all superhero movies, including DC's rival summer tentpole Superman, appear to be underperforming compared to the height of the superhero craze at the cinemas. 

Prior to being added to the Disney+ streaming library, First Steps was made available to rent or buy as paid VOD on September 23, just about two months after the theatrical premiere. 

Marvel's Next Movie Won't Arrive Until Summer

For fans of the MCU, being able to watch every MCU movie on Disney+ is nice, because it's going to be a relatively long wait for the next one. Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will bring back Tom Holland's web-slinger and reveal what he's been up to since everybody forgot Peter Parker existed at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, is set for a July 31, 2026 release. Then Avengers: Doomsday, the next huge crossover event for the franchise in the mode of Endgame, hits theaters on December 18. After that, it'll be a full year till there's any MCU move. Avengers: Secret Wars, which will finish what Doomsday started, opens on December 17, 2027. 

There will be some new MCU content hitting Disney+ alongside First Steps before that, though. The TV series Wonder Man, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, premieres on January 27, 2026. Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again kicks off on March 4, 2026.
