Benjamin Wainwright is starring in the latest PBS mystery thriller series Maigret!
The actor takes on the titular role of Chief Inspector Maigret in the show, which is based on the detective novels by Georges Simenon.
Here’s a synopsis: Chief Inspector Maigret and his team of maverick but loyal detectives, “Les Maigrets,” solve a series of complex crimes in Paris. Maigret’s unconventional methods and unique sense of justice put him at odds with his superiors and the judicial system he is supposed to represent. Maigret must outwit some of Paris’s most cunning and violent criminals, while dealing with his own troubled past.
As the debut season nears the end, we caught up with Benjamin and got to know more about him with 10 Fun Facts.

- 1. I always wanted to be a zookeeper. Gorillas I think.
- 2. I feel compelled to swim in any/all large bodies of water.

- 5. I have a Harry Potter-style scar on my forehead where I split it open on a kitchen cabinet. I had forgotten about it until my receding hairline revealed it last week.

In this tonight’s (November 2) episode, “Maigret Comes Home – Part One,” astudent is stabbed to death in the street. Maigret and Cavre disagree over the killer’s motives. As the investigations proceed in different directions, Maigret digs into the killer’s psychology and tries to provoke him into making contact. But his priorities suddenly shift when Countess Sophie calls to say that she fears for her life. Maigret is left facing an impossible decision.
