A Miss Piggy Movie Written By Cole Escola Is Reportedly In The Works And... Just Take Our Money Now
After decades as a scene-stealing player in the Muppets troupe, it looks like Miss Piggy might finally be stepping into the spotlight on her own like never before.
Yes, 11 years after her last foray onto the big screen in the film Muppets Most Wanted, it’s been reported that a Miss Piggy movie is in the works.
And somehow, that’s not even the most exciting part.
You see, the news was revealed by Jennifer Lawrence during an interview with Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers on their podcast Las Culturistas.
During the conversation, Jen revealed that she and fellow Oscar winner Emma Stone were co-producing a new film in which everyone’s favourite porcine icon would be taking centre stage.
Perhaps most excitingly of all, though, she teased that the project was being written by Cole Escola, who just won a Tony Award for their work in the much-loved Broadway play Oh, Mary!, which they wrote, and will be heading to the West End at the end of this year.
“I don’t know if I can announce this, but I’m just going to,” Jen told the hosts. “Emma Stone and I are producing a Miss Piggy movie and Cole is writing it.”
The former Hunger Games star also teased that both she and Emma would also be hoping to make appearances in the film, which makes sense, given the characters’ penchant for including celebrity cameos in their movies and shows.
“I think so, we have to,” she remarked when asked if she planned to star in the film, as well as producing it.
HuffPost UK has contacted the Walt Disney Studios – which has owned the Muppets since 2004 – for comment.
And while the news is yet to be confirmed by the Muppets officially, that certainly hasn’t stopped fans from getting very excited on social media…

Miss Piggy was first introduced to the world in the 1970s as the resident diva on The Muppet Show.
Since then, she’s become one of the franchise’s stand-out characters, most recently appearing in 2021’s Muppets Haunted Mansion.
Next year, she’ll share the screen with Sabrina Carpenter in a one-off special revival of The Muppet Show, commemorating 50 years since the first episode aired.
