Jason Kelce Apologizes After Controversial Comments

Former Philadelphia Eagles superstar center Jason Kelce has never been shy about sharing candid thoughts and opinions, but that mentality earned him a bit of criticism this week after he appeared to take a shot at Canada and the sport of baseball.

During the most recent episode of his New Heights podcast alongside his brother, Travis Kelce, Jason made some strong comments about the World Series as he made it pretty clear that he did not care about the series or the Blue Jays, going as far as to say that baseball "sucks."

However, the legendary center has now taken to social media to apologize for his comments.

Jason Kelce Blasts Blue Jays, Canada, and Baseball

During the most recent episode of the New Heights podcast, Travis brought up the World Series showdown between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays, which ended up being one of the most exciting, back-and-forth World Series in recent memory.

Jason, however, was not at all enthused as he quickly unleashed some comments where he seemed to speak out against the Blue Jays as well as Canada and the sport of baseball in general.

“We’re gonna stamp baseball?” Jason asked on the podcast. “For what?”

“So, you’re telling me, I’m supposed to get excited about a Canadian baseball team and a team that spends more money than everybody else? Who the [expletive] cares about either of them?” Jason said.

“Both of them spend more money than everybody,” Travis responded, pointing out that both the Dodgers and Blue Jays rank in the top five in Major League Baseball in terms of payroll.

Jason did not hold back in his response.

“Yeah, that's why baseball sucks,” Jason responded. “You just buy World Series championships. It's the dumbest thing in the world.”

Jason Kelce Issues Apology

Following his comments, Jason issued an apology on social media, specifically clarifying that he did not mean to criticize Canada or the Blue Jays.

“Guys, I love Canada, I have been bamboozled by our social team that failed to show the whole story,” Jason wrote in a post on X. “How could I not love poutine, maple syrup, and beavers!! I was actually rooting for the Blue Jays in a World Series that I didn’t care about.”

“Seriously, Canada is the best,” Jason added. “I was just talking [expletive] about not being personally invested of caring that the team that spent the most money and built a super team won the World Series. That’s it. I am a known Canada advocate and Ice Hockey lover.”

It's worth noting that Jason did not apologize for his comments about the sport of baseball, which he presumably stands by.
