NOVATO
Fire department
to rent warehouse
The Marin County Fire Department plans to rent about 15,000 square feet of commercial warehouse space in Novato to store equipment and supplies.
The site is at 5400 Hanna Ranch Road near the Highway 37 and Highway 101 interchange. The county will pay nearly $1.2 million over a three-year period.
“This facility will provide critical logistics capacity to support daily operations, wildfire response and disaster preparedness,” Kevin Yeager, deputy director of the fire department, wrote in a report to the Board of Supervisors. “The lease also ensures transition space during the San Geronimo Valley fire station build, minimizing disruption to staff and services.”
“Failure to secure this space would jeopardize operational continuity during the San Geronimo Valley fire station build and limit the Office of Emergency Management’s ability to securely store and deploy critical emergency supplies,” Yeager wrote.
The supervisors authorized the rental agreement at their meeting on Nov. 4. The property owner is P&K Hanna Ranch LLC.
