Netflix Removing More Than 100 Popular Titles From Its Catalog
Starting on Jan. 1, 2026, Netflix viewers will be losing more than 100 popular movies from their selection, so the time to watch these shows is down to the final few weeks.
According to Super Hero Hype, five of those will be popular superhero films from the house of DC, Marvel and Millarworld. "As new superhero movies continue to pour in on Netflix, the streaming giant is all set to remove certain titles from its roster come next month," Apoorv Rastogi states in a Dec. 7 feature.
Every so often, as Netflix bring new titles in, they have to delete a good number, too, so that's the reason for the change. There's always the possibility that these title will be available again in the future, but starting in January, they'll be pulled from the streaming service.
Movies Netflix is Pulling
"January 2026 brings an unusually packed wave of departures, from superhero tentpoles and beloved comedies to crowd-pleasing family films and long-standing comfort rewatches," notes Moore. "If something in your rotation comes from Sony, Warner Bros, or a past Netflix deal, there's a decent chance it's on the move, so now's the moment to squeeze in those final watches before they vanish with the arrival of the new year."
According to a report from Kasey Moore of What's on Netflix, one of the biggest films leaving in 2026 is Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. The Jason Momoa flick debuted in 2023 and was the last entry in the DCEU. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom wasn't as popular as the original and left theaters with a worldwide collection of only $440 million, according to Box Office Mojo.
Other titles scheduled to leave Netflix include Blue Beetle, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, Hulk, 8 Mile, Doctor Sleep, Hancock, Terminator 2, Elvis, Runaway Bride, both Sister Act movies and Mad Max: Fury Road.
Good News for Those Missing These Films
The good news is that as What's on Netflix notes, "All removals from Netflix are subject to change due to licensing agreements."
They add, "Netflix may extend licenses or remove titles earlier than listed. Removal dates may also vary by region." So, at any point the streaming service could bring these titles back, even early in the year. But, it's best to watch them now, just in case.
