I’m A Celebrity Voting Figures Show Us Just How Close This Year’s Final Was
This year’s I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! champion has been crowned, and now ITV has revealed just how close the final was.
Social media star Morgan “Angryginge” Burtwistle became the new King Of The Jungle during Sunday night’s final, winning the series after spending three weeks in the Australian jungle with fellow celebrities including Ruby Wax, Jack Osbourne and Aitch.
In the end, the finale came down to a head-to-head between Angryginge and reality star Tom Read-Wilson, with EastEnders actor Shona McGarty finishing in third place.
Hosts Ant and Dec then announced that Angryginge had beaten Tom to the throne and won the show, with last year’s champion Danny Jones returning to pass over his crown.
Now, ITV has shared the voting breakdown, revealing it was a comfortable win for the streaming star.
When Shona was eliminated, Angryginge took 53% of the vote compared to Tom’s 25% and Shona’s 22%.
And when it came to the final two, the content creator secured a healthy 65% of votes versus 35% for runner-up Tom.
That’s a larger proportion of votes for the winner compared to last year’s final, when Danny received a total of 55%, while Coleen Rooney landed 45% to take second place.
Speaking to Ant and Dec about his win last night, Angryginge said he felt “amazing”.
“Honestly, it’s a dream come true,” he enthused. “I didn’t think I could go all this way, never mind win. Thank you to everyone who voted.”
Fans won’t have to wait too long before another dose of I’m A Celebrity, with a special series set in South Africa due to air on ITV next year.
The “All Stars” series was filmed months in advance and is rumoured to see the likes of Gemma Collins, Craig Charles, Scarlet Moffatt and Harry Redknapp return to the series for more gruelling challenges.
