Outdoor Boys Star Luke Nichols' Surprising New Job That Explains Abrupt YouTube Retirement
Earlier this year YouTube superstar Luke Nichols announced his abrupt retirement where he explained "even good things can be taken too far" as it relates to his channel, Outdoor Boys, becoming wildly popular in the 18 months before his decision to step away.
"I'm not just talking about the time and energy I spend making YouTube videos. I'm also talking about the attention it brings," he said of his decision to indefinitely pause his channel.
He revealed "the sheer volume of fans trying to contact me, trying to take pictures with me, or just trying to come up and talk to me in public" became overwhelming for he and his family.
Luke Nichols Lands New Job That Could Explain YouTube Exit
On Tuesday, Dec. 9, news broke that Nichols landed a new job as one of 14 men who will serve on the Young Men General Advisory Council of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
"They will assist the Young Men General Presidency as they counsel with other general and local Church leaders to teach, serve and watch over the young men of the Church. The members of the council began serving on December 1, 2025," the church said in an announcement on Tuesday.

Nichols earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Brigham Young University and juris doctorate from George Mason University. He later worked as the managing partner of Nichols & Green PLLC, where he practiced criminal defense law before developing his following on YouTube.
He previously served as a full-time missionary in the Japan Fukuoka Mission.
Nichols' new job in serving the church could help explain his decision to walk away from his YouTube channel.
