Orpo apologises in Chinese, Japanese and Korean over MPs’ racist images
Prime Minister Petteri Orpo has issued formal apologies in Chinese, Japanese and Korean in response to racist social media posts by members of the Finns Party.
The statements appeared this week on the official social media channels of Finland’s embassies in Tokyo, Beijing and Seoul. The content addressed offensive photographs shared by MPs Juho Eerola and Kaisa Garedew, in which they stretch their eyes in a manner widely recognised as a racist caricature of East Asians.
