Amorim makes 4 changes: Predicted Man Utd XI vs Aston Villa as Martinez & Mainoo finally start
Manchester United take on Aston Villa in today’s Premier League game at Villa Park.
The Red Devils played out a thrilling 4-4 draw against Bournemouth on Monday. They had the advantage on three occasions, but were unable to hold onto the lead.
Manager Ruben Amorim will be eyeing a better defensive performance against Villa, who are currently one of the in-form teams in the league with six straight victories.
Villa are slight favourites for the clash, but United have had the better of the Midlands outfit in recent times. They have won four of the last five matches with one draw.
Ahead of the encounter, we anticipate Amorim to make four changes to the starting line-up.
Formation: 3-4-2-1
Predicted Line-up:
Senne Lammens has been ever-present in goal since making his debut against Sunderland in October. He has kept just one clean sheet and faces another daunting challenge in the West Midlands, where he is guaranteed to start between the sticks.
Lisandro Martinez looks poised to make his first start of the campaign after recovering from a long-term knee injury. We have already predicted him to partner Leny Yoro and Luke Shaw in the back three, with Ayden Heaven making way.
Amorim is unlikely to begin with three left-footed centre-backs. Harry Maguire and Matthijs de Ligt are out injured, while Nousssair Mazraoui is on Africa Cup of Nations duty.
Diogo Dalot is likely to start at right wing-back today as Amad Diallo has travelled for international duty too. This probably means Patrick Dorgu will feature on the opposite end unless Amorim changes his formation, which he may not, in our view.
In midfield, United won’t have the services of Casemiro after his fifth yellow card of the league campaign. The Brazilian is suspended. Kobbie Mainoo came on to replace him in the back end of the Cherries game. He could make his first start of the league season alongside Bruno Fernandes in the centre of the park.
In the final third, Matheus Cunha could drop into an attacking midfield alongside Mason Mount today, with Bryan Mbeumo away with Cameroon. With Benjamin Sesko having just returned from a knee injury, Joshua Zirkzee could get another big opportunity to prove his credentials as the main striker.
