It has been raining runs and sixes in the first round clashes of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025. Two Indian batters smashed the Indian record of fastest centuries in List A within a few minutes on Wednesday. Jharkhand and Sunrisers Hyderabad wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan celebrated his selection for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 with a 33-ball century against Karnataka in VHT 2025-26 match.
Ishan had broken Punjab batter Anmolpreet Singh’s record of fastest 100 by an Indian in List A cricket but he was soon overtaken by Bihar captain Sakibul Gani, who smashed a century of 32 balls against hapless Arunachal Pradesh attack in VHT 2025-26 match in Ranchi. Gani backed up teen prodigy and Rajasthan Royals star’s 100 in 36 balls as he smashed 15 sixes in a knock of 190 off 84 balls.
Kishan, who was bought for Rs 11.25 by Kavya Maran’s SRH at the IPL 2025 mega auction, came to bat at the No. 6 position while leading Jharkhand and clobbered 125 off 39 balls with 14 sixes and 7 fours in an attack featuring the likes of Vijaykumar Vyshak and Shreyas Gopal.

Kishan had earlier led Jharkhand to their maiden Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy 2025 title with a win over Haryana in the final last week where he scored a century. The SRH star’s top in SMAT 2025 final led to his recall to the Indian side at the expense of Shubman Gill.
It is Kishan’s 7th century in List A cricket with a best of 210 against Bangladesh in an ODI match. Before the clash against Karnataka, Kishan had scored 3868 runs in 114 matches at a strike-rate of 96.09.
Against Karnataka, Kishan batted with a strike-rate of 320.5 as Jharkhand piled up a massive total of 412 for 9 after batting first at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Kishan’s Jharkhand teammate clobbered 88 off 68 balls with 4 sixes and 8 fours while Kumar Kushagra had 5 sixes and 3 fours in his knock of 63 off 47 balls.
Meanwhile, Bihar piled up a record List A total of 574 for 6 against minnows Arunachal. Suryavanshi top-scored with 190 while his captain Gani had a strike-rate of 320 while notching up 128 off 40 balls with 12 sixes and 10 fours.
Bihar wicketkeeper Ayush Loharuka also smashed 116 off 56 balls with 8 sixes and 11 fours as his side ran riot.
