Despite repeated requests by the police and Forest Department officials, the protesters refused to clear the highway and railway tracks. Given the sensitivity of the situation, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun, Ajay Singh, visited the site late at night to assess the situation and gather information from on-duty officers.
