Tottenham behind-the-scenes boardroom jockeying is hurting Thomas Frank, says expert

A CEO of two former Premier League clubs believes that the conditions are not ideal at Tottenham Hotspur for Thomas Frank to succeed.

The man who hired Frank in the summer, Daniel Levy, has now resigned from Tottenham, and a new leadership structure is in place at the club.

Reports indicate that Frank does not have the unanimous backing of the Spurs board as he tries to turn the tide and get the Lilywhites up the Premier League table.

The Tottenham boss is confident he will get time to fix the club’s problems, but one expert is not so sure the Dane’s confidence is well-founded.

Tottenham uncertainty is claimed to be impacting Thomas Frank

Former Everton and Aston Villa CEO Keith Wyness has now claimed that the former Brentford boss is contending with instability among the Tottenham hierarchy, and he is being impacted by what is happening at the boardroom level.

However, the 68-year-old remains convinced that Frank is the right man for the job and believes Spurs should give him time to put his stamp on the team.

Wyness told Football Insider about Frank’s situation at Tottenham: “I think the uncertainty is impacting him. Before, I thought that Frank was the right manager, and I thought Daniel’s gone, and I thought the Lewis family would give him some stability. But it’s actually turning out to be a little bit more unstable than I imagined.

“And I think there may well be jockeying for position within the club and no clear direction, which is desperately needed. But I still rate Frank. I think they should stick with him, and they’ve got to, but, you know, the squad needs some strengthening, certainly, and he’s got to put his stamp on the squad.

“But it’s who’s helping him do that, and are they all aligned on the same way forward, or are they competing visions? That seems to be what’s happening, and that would worry me considerably.”

Frank has lost a trusted associate and could soon lose another

The Tottenham boss is now without one of his lieutenants after Matt Wells resigned from his role as Spurs assistant coach to take charge of MLS side Colorado Rapids.

Frank has confirmed that Tottenham will hire a new assistant coach to replace Wells, although he admitted that it is not clear when and how the club will do that.

Reports from Italy indicate that Fabio Paratici’s exit from Spurs will soon be official after the Lilywhites sporting director agreed to become Fiorentina’s head of football.
