Woman Kills Her Fully-Developed Unborn Baby Boy, Buried His Body in Her Yard
A Kentucky woman has been charged with first-degree fetal homicide after allegedly using abortion pills ordered online to end the life of her developed unborn son and burying his body in a shallow grave on her property.
The case is highlighting the dangers of unregulated chemical abortions and the protection of unborn children under state law, which protects babies from abortions.
Melinda Spencer, 35, of Campton, faces charges of first-degree fetal homicide, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with physical evidence, Kentucky State Police announced.
Spencer reportedly ordered abortion pills online and took them at her home, resulting in the death of a developed male baby. She then buried the infant’s body in a shallow grave on her property, where investigators later recovered his remains.

“Detectives interviewed the woman, 35-year-old Melinda Spencer, who said she took the medication and buried what police described as a ‘developed male infant,’ in a shallow grave on her property,” according to a Kentucky State Police release.”Detectives located the infant in the location that Spencer described.”
Spencer confessed to medical staff at a local clinic that she had done the abortion at home, prompting staff to notify authorities and launch the investigation.
An autopsy is pending to determine the child’s gestational age.
Kentucky law defines fetal homicide as occurring when a person causes the death of an unborn child at any stage of gestation through criminal conduct.
Addia Wuchner, executive director of Kentucky Right to Life, called the case a tragic example of the abortion culture that views babies as a problem:
“A truly compassionate society does not ask women to solve crises by ending a human life – it surrounds them with care, truth, and real alternatives,” she said.
“This case also highlights the dangers of abortion pills, which too often remove medical oversight, safeguards, and support.
“Kentucky’s responsibility is not to normalize abortion as healthcare, because healthcare is meant to heal and protect life. Abortion always ends a human life and often leaves women with lasting harm.
“The answer is not more abortion, but more compassion, responsibility, and real support for women and families.”
