Jelly Roll’s 275-Pound Weight Loss: How He Reached His Fitness Goal and What Worked

When Jelly Roll took the music world by storm, it was his voice and songs that fans initially grew to love. Over time, another aspect of the singer's success became the fact that he was able to connect with his fans. One of the main reasons for that is the fact that, unlike many of his peers, Jelly Roll has often been incredibly forthright in public.

It has now been revealed that Jelly Roll has lost a staggering 275 pounds and reached his fitness goal. Thanks to his forthright nature, the beloved singer has revealed many important details of how he transformed his body and life. Jelly Roll's advice about his own health journey could be invaluable to many other people who would like to undergo a similar transformation.

On January 2nd, 2026, Men's Health published a video chronicling Jelly Roll's health and fitness journey. At around the 17-minute point in that video, Jelly Roll can be seen telling Dana White that he was down to weighing 265.7 pounds after he'd previously weighed 540 pounds. The beloved singer also told White that he'd jumped in a sauna to reach 265 pounds, which marked a 275-pound weight loss.

On the same day, Men's Health published an article covering how Jelly Roll has transformed himself. While most coverage will focus on the singer losing so much weight, that article shone a spotlight on something more important, that he reached his fitness goal.

When many people seek to lose weight, they have a number in mind that they want to see when they step on a scale. However, Men's Health revealed that weighing a specific amount was never what Jelly Roll was working so hard to accomplish. Instead, Jelly Roll set a goal for himself of transforming himself enough to appear on the cover of Men's Health by March 2025. The fact that the singer reached that goal two months early is something that is certainly worthy of celebration.

How Jelly Roll Transformed His Body and Others Can Too

As a part of Men's Health's aforementioned YouTube video that chronicled Jelly Roll's fitness transformation, the outlet interviewed Gary Brecka, a "biohacker" and "human biologist" who helped the singer. In the video, Brecka described that, after he got a DM from the singer asking for help, he told Jelly Roll that his fitness journey needed to start with a little bit of walking that would ramp up over time. “I said, ‘We're going to start by walking to the mailbox and back. And the next day we're going to add a mailbox, and the day after that we're going to add another mailbox. And eventually you're going to guarantee me 10,000 steps a day, no matter what.’”

Brecka went on to explain that he and Jelly Roll started with just a walking program to ensure that the singer wouldn't become too sore to maintain the progress. “At first we were just walking. That was the first step. We would walk and we'd walk further each day and we'd keep track of that. It was just getting him moving. Obviously, he had a bunch of weight to lose, but the biggest thing was creating something that wasn't going to make him so sore the next day that we couldn't put the work in.”

As the video progresses, several of the other methods that Jelly Roll has used to work out are shown. The singer's workouts include things like boxing, climbing stairs, pushup challenges, and playing basketball.

A May 2024 Entertainment Tonight article chronicled another milestone in Jelly Roll's transformation that showed how much he'd grown from initially starting just walking to a mail box. At that time, the singer talked to ET about completing Tom Segura and Bert Kreischer's 2 Bears 5K. "I couldn't walk a mile when I started trying to do this back in January. So the fact that we got 3-point-whatever it was, got it down, I felt really, really good about it."

During Men Health's video, a section outlined how Jelly Roll's diet has changed to ensure that he is operating at a calorie deficit. During the video, Brecka described giving Jelly Roll a specific plan that he said allowed the singer to adopt "a very clean, reset diet." The video also showed that Jelly Roll's diet now includes things like teriyaki chicken, bell peppers, and broccoli.

Another important part of the video came when Jelly Roll explained that, on top of eating the right things, he takes proactive steps to ensure that unhealthy foods aren't in his vicinity. “I have to be aware of what I feel about all food that's around me at all times. It goes back to alcoholism. It is an every single day struggle for me. And, I have to now be smart enough to know when something can't be around me. You know, like there are times where we'll come in the hotel room and they will have left out some snacks and I'll have had a long day and I'm just tired. And I'll grab somebody and be like, ‘Yo. Y'all take these to another room for me? I don't think I'll eat them, but I am just tired enough to look at them for comfort.’”

One of the most interesting parts of the Men's Health video focused on another part of Jelly Roll's fitness regimen that included an element some may not expect, therapy. "What I needed to cover up was inside. That's what brought me to mental health. I got some real therapy done. I really went and tried to understand, when did I start eating this?… I applied a lot of my principles from my sobriety to this weight loss journey. I spent a lot of time at a place called Onsite in a Cabin working with a woman named Mary B. We did a lot of just really tracing back when I started eating bad, how long I've been eating bad. So I immediately plugged back into the program, and I realized that when I could apply to alcohol, I could apply to food. And I was already struggling with alcohol, so I just learned how to bungee on both ends of my daily practices."
