Matthew Lawrence is making rare comments about his divorce from Cheryl Burke almost four years ago.
The 43-year-old Boy Meets World alum and the 41-year-old former Dancing with the Stars professional dancer married in 2019. Cheryl filed for divorce in February 2022, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

Since then, the dancer has publicly spoken about their marriage and her life post-divorce several times, while Matthew has mostly refrained.
“That’s one of the interesting things about when you choose to be in a career like this is that your private life is public, so you have to live those things out on a public stage,” he told The Daily Mail in a new interview. ‘And I don’t think that’s really fun for anybody, you know?’”
He went on to say that this is “especially” true “when you don’t really have control of the narrative or if the narrative isn’t even true, you kind of just have to say, ‘Well, I’m going to have to just go on with my life and continue to live the life I want to live. And the people that I care about know what’s real and what’s not.’”
Ultimately, Matthew concluded that “you just have to grow thick skin” and move on.
He is now in a long-term relationship with TLC singer Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas.
