Predicted Man Utd XI vs Leeds United | 18yo finally starts under Amorim
Manchester United will be aiming to return to winning ways in today’s Premier League clash against Leeds United on the road.
The Red Devils recently played out a frustrating 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford and need to pick up maximum points from Elland Road.
The club can temporarily move to fourth with a victory over the Whites, given Liverpool and Chelsea are scheduled to play later in the day at Fulham and Manchester City respectively.
Manager Ruben Amorim said on Tuesday that he went with a 3-4-2-1 formation to match Wolves’ tactics. With Leeds playing with three at the back, he is unlikely to change his system.
Ahead of the game, we anticipate one big change in the final third.
Formation: 3-4-2-1
Predicted Line-up:
Senne Lammens has kept two clean sheets since making his debut against Sunderland in October. He has been ever-present in goal in recent months and should continue between the sticks.
The back three should stay unchanged, with Ayden Heaven, Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw keeping their places. Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire are on the sidelines due to injuries.
Leny Yoro’s form has been quite average in recent weeks, and he may feature as a substitute again.
Diogo Dalot and Patrick Dorgu are very much guaranteed starters in the right and left wing-back positions respectively, with Noussair Mazraoui and Amad Diallo away on international duty.
Similarly, Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte are assured to feature as the midfield pairing. Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes and Mason Mount have all been ruled out for the league encounter.
In the attack, we expect a big change with Joshua Zirkzee dropping out of the XI. The Dutchman scored a deflected goal versus Wolves, but his poor work rate saw him subbed at half-time.
Jack Fletcher had a decent outing off the bench again, but we anticipate the manager to unleash Shea Lacey from the right number 10 position for his full debut against Leeds.
The 18-year-old has been working hard in first-team training alongside Fletcher. His creativity and flair could be utilised to provide an X-factor for the Red Devils in the final third.
Matheus Cunha will obviously slot in the left number 10 role with Bryan Mbeumo out for the Africa Cup of Nations. Benjamin Sesko is poised to lead the line for United once more.
