MAGA begs Dan Bongino to spill the tea on Trump admin ‘corruption’
Former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino kicked off his first day since leaving the agency Sunday with an innocuous social media post wishing his 7.2 million followers a “happy Sunday,” but was immediately hit with demands from his followers to divulge the “corruption” they alleged to be rampant within the Trump administration.
“Good morning Dan – welcome back,” wrote Ellen Streiff, a self-proclaimed Christian Nationalist who frequently shares conservative content, in a social media post on X. “Now that you had an up-close insider’s look at what is really going on at the FBI, will you expose the corruption?”
“You’ve got some ‘splaining’ to do,” wrote another X user, “I miss my dogs,” who frequently shares political commentary.
Bongino’s 11-month stint at the FBI had been fraught with controversy, largely after he signed off on a memo that concluded Jeffrey Epstein – the disgraced financier who died in 2019 awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges – had died by suicide, and that no evidence existed to pursue charges against potential co-cosnpiratators.
Bongino caught blowback from his own supporters for his agency’s attempt to shut down further investigation into Epstein largely due to his own past remarks as a podcaster, where he aggressively promoted theories around Epstein and vowed to never “let this story go.”
Last summer, Bongino reportedly got into a heated confrontation with Attorney General Pam Bondi after Bondi confronted Bongino and accused him of leaking information to the press about her bungling of the Justice Department’s investigation into Epstein.
Now that Bongino has left the agency, however, his supporters appear eager to hear him spill details about the goings ons within the Trump administration.
“Good Morning Dan!” Wrote Steve Ferguson, an “America First” pro-Trump influencer, in a social media post on X. “Great to see you back from ‘The Swamp!’”
“Welcome back,” wrote another, X user “SEB1957,” a self-proclaimed MAGA supporter who’s amassed nearly 50,000 followers. “What can you tell us about your time in the FBI? Why or when will we see accountability and arrests?”
And another, the self-proclaimed “America First” X user “Jackl,” simply congratulated Bongino for having escaped “corruption city.”
