Do You Enjoy Skiing Moguls? (Poll)
As much as we all wish every day was an endless, free refills, powder day, that's not a reality for most places, and even the snowiest spots go through dry spells.
As a result, skiers are left to work with different snow conditions and configurations between storms. For some, that means sticking to groomers where snowcats have smoothed over the snow's surface to make for easy-skiing runs. But for others, it means taking advantage of piles of snow pushed around by skiers to get their heart rate up and quads burning. That's right, we're talking mogul skiing.
Mountains like Winter Park/Mary Jane (CO), Sun Valley (ID), Taos (NM), and Killington (VT) have become famous for their bump runs, and mogul skiing even has its own FIS freeskiing discipline in which skiers race down adjacent mogul fields with park jumps integrated into the courses.
However, mogul skiing isn't for everyone. In many ways, it's more tiring than carving a turn, and skiing bad moguls is scarier than a bad groomer. On the flip side, not much feels more badass than smashing moguls like Glen Plake.
So, where do you fall? Are you an avid bump skier, or do you avoid them at all costs? Weigh in below.
