Flood advisory in place for Marin and Sonoma counties until Monday evening due to excessive rain

Marin and Sonoma counties are included in an updated flood advisory issued by the National Weather Service on Monday at 12:56 p.m. The advisory is in effect until 4 p.m.

According to the NWS San Francisco CA, “Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.”

“Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways,” the NWS said. “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law enforcement and request they pass this information to the National Weather Service when you can do so safely.”
