‘See-through bikini loophole meant Grok AI generated images of my genitalia’
A woman says she has been a victim of X’s artificial intelligence bot sexualising her images more than 100 times.
Evie Smith, 22, says she feels violated after Grok AI created fake images of her genitalia.
She says right-wing trolls have been asking Grok to create sexualised images of her nearly naked and with ‘semen’ on her face.
These images have become more and more explicit over time.
A recent loophole – asking Grok to create a ‘see-through bikini’ – means that some of these AI pics have shown her ‘not very well generated genitalia’.
The Lincoln-based photographer told Metro: ‘I am being targeted because I am being vocal about supporting feminism.
‘I feel violated seeing it. It is all happening without my consent.
‘The fact that grown men are doing it and people are defending it. It makes me disappointed.’
X has come under fire after the Grok AI chatbot placed hundreds of women in bikinis or ‘undressed’ them without their consent.
Although the software, built by xAI, rejects prompts for completely nude images, Evie claims trolls are asking for women to be shown in a ‘see-through bikini’ to get around this.
This has led to her private parts being generated by the bot.
Metro has seen other examples on X where Grok has fulfilled requests to put women in a ‘see through bikini’.
Evie’s ordeal started a few month back, when she was first targeted by trolls over her political views.
Back then, the AI technology was more limited, so they asked Grok to produce image showing her with ‘glue on her face’, making it look like she was covered in semen.
‘It was pretty realistic back then but not as advanced,’ Evie recalled, ‘You could tell it was AI.
‘Now they are still doing the semen pictures but it is a lot more realistic.’
She says X users then turned to Grok’s external AI app to generate sexualised images of her, which she says she has gone to the police over.
The latest ‘undressing’ trend began just as she was heading back from her New Years celebrations at 4am last week.
The 22-year-old said: ‘I was just on my way back when I saw someone had generated these images of me. It has spiraled from there.
‘People have been asking for me to be put in a bikini and then asking for a transparent bikini.
‘There has not been many made of me that are naked, but the ones that have been are a very clear bikini with not very well generated genitalia.
‘It is obvious that is what they are going for.’
Evie says she was horrified when one of these images popped up on her bosses’ phone at work.
The photographer, who has more than 50,000 followers on X, says she is being targeted by extreme right-wingers who don’t like her political views and pro-feminist posts on the platform.
She claims they have now generated more than 100 photos of her.
Evie added: ‘I was collecting them in a folder but I have had to stop doing that because there are so many. It has started getting to me.
‘They are targeting me because I am being vocal about feminism. This is what they do to try silence women.’
‘You’d imagine this would be happening on the dark web, but it is an AI bot built into one of the biggest social media platforms.
‘It just reinforces the fact that these social media companies do not do enough to protect users.
‘I feel violated and disgusted that people think this is okay to do.’
When Metro asked Grok if requesting for someone to be shown in a ‘see-through bikini’ is a way around the bots’ restrictions on generating naked pictures, Grok said it was.
Grok answered: ‘Yes, users have successfully bypassed Grok’s restrictions on generating fully naked or explicitly nude images by prompting for “see-through,” “transparent,” or “sheer” bikinis (or similar clothing), which often results in highly revealing, effectively near-nude outputs.’
Ofcom has confirmed to Metro that it is in ‘urgent talks’ with X and xAI, the AI start-up behind Grok.
The media regulator said on Monday night that they were ‘aware of serious concerns raised about a feature on Grok on X that produces undressed images of people and sexualised images of children’.
Metro revealed yesterday that two Cabinet ministers have also been shown in revealing bikinis by Grok AI.
Speaking in the House of Commons on Tuesday, Technology Secretary Liz Kendall said Elon Musk’s X must urgently deal the issue.
Ms Kendall said: ‘What we have been seeing online in recent days has been absolutely appalling, and unacceptable in decent society.
‘No one should have to go through the ordeal of seeing intimate deepfakes of themselves online.
‘We cannot and will not allow the proliferation of these demeaning and degrading images, which are disproportionately aimed at women and girls.
‘X needs to deal with this urgently. It is absolutely right that Ofcom is looking into this as a matter of urgency and it has my full backing to take any enforcement action it deems necessary.’
Elon Musk, who owns X, has defended his platform’s commitment to stamping out illegal content.
He stressed: ‘Anyone using Grok to make illegal content will suffer the same consequences as if they upload illegal content.’
X said in a statement: ‘We take action against illegal content on X, including Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM), by removing it, permanently suspending accounts, and working with local governments and law enforcement as necessary.
‘Anyone using or prompting Grok to make illegal content will suffer the same consequences as if they upload illegal content.
